WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC

Only two weeks to go and the World Wide Knit in Public Day is over us!
This time it takes place on Saturday, June 13th, so book the day and find some fellow knitters in your neighbourhood and go knitting!

So where does this event take place? Well, in the whole World!
It's amazing how many events have been organised till now and there is still one week to go for events to be registered. I did a small tally of the events being announced so far.

Europe: 166, of which 51 take place in the UK, and Denmark is in second place with 17 events. I once heard that yarn importers have Denmark as their third largest taker of yarn after US and Japan - no wonder when we see the activity still taking place there.
Americas: 299 with the vast majority taking place in the States, where the WWKIP day is really taking on!
Australia & New Zealand: 50
Africa & the Mediterranean: 9
Asia: 5
...and the organisers are still looking for some knitters in Greenland to represent the Arctic Circle!

That's a total of 579 events in 51 different countries events so far! This more or less represents a quarter of all countries in the world. I wish that every single country would take this one opportunity a year to sit down and knit for peace - what a world we could get!...
