Reversible Embroidery on Knits

I am a happy member of the Big Apple Knitters Guild in New York. Since last year and at least till autumn 2021 they have their monthly meetings online - something I have enjoyed being somewhat stuck in Europe. If you do not know the BAKG, then do check this great group of knitters out here.

Ever so often, BAKG offers courses and I participated in the latest one in April. Carolyn Bloom gave a course on how to embroider on stockinette, and I really loved her technique - this is an eye-opener for yet another way to use on your knitting.

I really loved how a regular knitted swatch in stockinette completely changed character by simply embroidering what Carylon called anchor stitches. Just see here how a regular swatch of stockinette changed both on its right and wrong sides with its different anchor stitches applied.

Having introduced the anchor stitches to the fabric, the embroidery is then added as per your own designs, and this really creates a totally new fabric, both in looks and in drape. Do check out Carylon’s Ravelry page, Here she has patterns for a hat and a cowl canvas to try out this technique.
